The center of the steelworks is an event hall , which has been located in the premises of the former training workshop of the Mannesmannröhren-Werke in the Düsseldorf-Lierenfeld industrial area since December 1993. Until 1994 it was called Kraftwerk . Concerns of the Kraftwerk group of the same name led to the name being changed to Stahlwerk .

Since then, the steelworks in North Rhine-Westphalia has become known in particular as a large-capacity disco and venue for parties. In addition, the steelworks is also a venue for comedy , theater and concerts . It has three independent catering areas (hall, club, café), which are used depending on the size of the event. Since 2009, the forecourt of the steelworks has been operated as an open-air location under the name Treibgut during the summer season (April to September).
