Die Toten Hosen / discography
This discography is an overview of the work of the music group Die Toten Hosen .
The band released sixteen studio albums and eight live albums by October 2019 . In addition, seven compilations came on the market, four of which were produced for foreign countries, whereby Love, Peace & Money and Crash-Landing represent a collection of successful titles by the band, but the songs have been provided with new English-language texts. The two albums can therefore also be seen as newly produced studio albums. For the band's 30th anniversary, the studio album Ballast der Republik was released in May 2012. It immediately reached number one in the German charts and hit parades in Austria and Switzerland. With Laune der Natur , which was released in May 2017, the band's tenth music album reached first place in the official German charts . The concert album Alles ohne Strom , which was released in October 2019, also reached the top of the German album charts. More than 80 singles and EPs had been released by the end of 2019 . Die Toten Hosen received numerous gold and platinum records for more than 14,200,000 records sold in Germany, 353,000 in Switzerland and 177,500 in Austria . The band is one of the performers with the highest number of records sold in Germany . The two most successful albums are Opium fürs Volk and Reich & sexy , each with more than 1,035,000 copies sold. (As of March 15, 2019) They are among the best-selling music albums in Germany .
Die Toten Hosen achieved their first chart success with number 21 in 1987 under the pseudonym Die Roten Rosen with the album Never Mind The Hosen - Here's Die Roten Rosen . In 1990, Auf dem Kreuzzug ins Glück was the first studio album to hit first place in the German album charts. The album away game also reached number one on the charts in Austria in 2002. The most successful single up to 2012 was Ten Little Jägermeister with number one placements in 1996 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The single was awarded platinum in Germany for more than 500,000 copies sold. The song Tage wie This reached number one in the German single charts in 2012 and was awarded gold or platinum for more than 900,000 records sold in Germany and more than 30,000 copies sold. The band members appeared in various albums of artist friends and in numerous samplers and appeared in radio, television and film productions as guest musicians or extras. Eight songbooks were published containing sheet music and lyrics, a band biography and four photo books, which the band brought out under their name. The band published a total of 365 own compositions and more than 168 cover versions by December 2017 .
Die Toten Hosen have played in almost the same line-up since they were founded in 1982: vocals Campino , guitars Andreas von Holst and Michael Breitkopf and on bass Andreas Meurer . There was a change of drummer in 1986 when founding member Trini Trimpop was replaced by Wolfgang Rohde . Rohde played in the band until 1999. He already alternated with Vom Ritchie on the album Immortal and is only represented in four titles. After that, Vom Ritchie took over as the group's drummer. Jon Caffery was the producer of all albums from 1982 to 2005 ; The only exception was the album Never Mind The Hosen - Here's Die Roten Rosen , which Die Toten Hosen produced themselves. Starting with the album In aller Stille in 2008, Vincent Sorg produced the band's music.
Die Toten Hosen had produced the first two singles and the debut album Opel-Gang for their own label Totenkopf . Trini Trimpop and Jochen Hülder were responsible for the independent label . Hülder was the group's manager until his death in 2015. From 1983 the band was under contract with EMI , which financed the video for Eisgekühlter Bommerlunder and a concert tour of the music group. However, the band switched to Virgin Records in 1984 with the album Under False Flag , with which they were associated until 1995. Since the expiry of the contract with Virgin Records and the album Opium fürs Volk , Die Toten Hosen have been releasing their productions under the band's own label, JKP .
Albums
In addition to the year of publication, the publication numbers (release no.) Given on the sound carrier are noted. Until 1994 this number was preceded by the letters TOT . The abbreviation stands for the company TOT Musik GmbH in whose name the band produced for the Virgin label. The later productions bear the sign JKP , the band's own label JKP GmbH & Co. KG.
In the Art column , the productions are marked as studio, concert album or compilation (comp.). The highest position is indicated for the charts. In the columns to the right of the charts, the total stay in weeks (where) and awards in gold (G) and platinum (P) are noted. In 2007, 17 albums were remastered , provided with new additional booklets and in some cases with additional titles that have not been published since. More information can be found in the main articles linked to the albums.
