biography

Michael Breitkopf (2012)

Michael Breitkopf is the son of a commercial employee and grew up with 2 older brothers in Düsseldorf-Derendorf . As a teenager, he was mainly interested in sports and actually wanted to become a professional footballer. After an inflammation of the Achilles tendon , his parents gave him a guitar and he began to practice daily following the instructions in Peter Bursch's book .

Breitkopf attended the Humboldt Gymnasium , where he successfully graduated from high school. In eighth grade he had met Campino , who brought punk rock records from England to school. He became enthusiastic about this type of music and continued to practice guitar. When the Toten Hosen was founded, Trini Trimpop Campino saw a fan who was wildly waving a flag and roaring loudly while looking through the recording from the ZK- Abschiedsgig in Neuss. Campino recognized him as his school friend Michael Breitkopf, called him and asked him to join the band. Michael Breitkopf did his community service in the State Psychiatry Düsseldorf-Ludenberg .

Breitkopf speaks fluent Spanish, takes on the announcements for guest performances in Argentina and gives interviews for the band in Spanish-speaking countries. In addition to his work as a guitarist, he is also the band's treasurer and is mainly responsible for the joint actions with the human rights organization Pro Asyl .
