ZK was a German punk band from Düsseldorf , which is considered the forerunner of the group Die Toten Hosen . Initially it was called the Central Committee City Center , but the acronym ZK primarily established itself in the scene . As a result, the name was officially adopted.

history

ZK was founded in November 1978 by Campino , Ralf Isbert and Claus Fabian . The first appearance took place in March 1979 in the Ratinger Hof . The position of guitarist changed constantly at first. It was not until the end of 1980 that Andreas von Holst was permanently appointed.

The group initially played punk rock, but then continued to develop their style and integrated Schlager and rockabilly elements into their music. The humorous texts of the group, which dealt with the phobias of cleaning women, cowboys sitting in bathtubs or Santa Clauses with unwanted gifts, were striking.

A single was released in 1979 and 1980, followed by the album Eddie's Salon in 1981 . On November 21, 1981 ZK gave their last concert in the Okie-Dokie in Neuss. The band members then went different ways. After the band broke up, a live album was released in 1982.

Campino, von Holst and the roadie Andreas Meurer then founded the band Die Toten Hosen . Fabian founded Die Mimmi’s and has been running the Bremen punk label Weser Label since 1982 . Isbert founded the rockabilly group Panhandle Alks .

In 2000, during a joint concert by Die Toten Hosen and Die Ärzte there was a one-time reunion of the band, where the piece Just like Konrad was performed. Several of the band's songs, for example canned beer and cockfight , are played live by the Mimmi’s .

In 2005 the band met with the final line-up in the rehearsal room of the Toten Hosen. The session was published on the DVD eat or die .

During the Christmas concerts of the Toten Hosen, which were accompanied by Mimmi's on December 26th, 2009, ZK played some songs as a surprise opening act.
