Rudi Dolezal (born February 5, 1958 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film producer and director .

Career

Dolezal worked since 1976 together with Hannes Rossacher under the name "DoRo" as a producer and director, first for the ORF , then also for ARD and ZDF and made contributions to youth and music programs. With the establishment of their own production company DoRo , they specialized in the music market and shot music videos for national and international performers . There were also portraits and documentaries. In 2003 the DoRo company went bankrupt, a little later Rossacher and Dolezal separated and went their separate ways. Dolezal has two sons.

Together with partner Rossacher, Dolezal was involved in developing the content of Premiere and VIVA . After MTV UK refused to broadcast Marius Müller-Westernhagen's music videos because he sings in German, the two of them planned together for three years the German music TV broadcaster VIVA, which started in December 1993. He has won numerous awards from the film, television and music sectors.

Dolezal made documentaries about Freddie Mercury , including Lover of Life, Singer of Songs . He also produced music videos for Falco , such as the one for the world hit Rock Me Amadeus . The music documentary Dolezal Backstage has been running on Servus TV since 2015 , in which he, illustrated with archive footage, tells from his life and reports on his encounters with music greats such as Michael Jackson , Bruce Springsteen , Frank Zappa , the Stones and others.

Dolezal received three Golden Romys , most recently in 2008 - together with Rossacher - for the documentary World Famous in Austria - 50 Years of Austropop . In 2017 he was involved in directing the Whitney Houston documentary , Whitney - "Can I Be Me" . His company DoRo GmbH filed for bankruptcy in November 2019.
