Whitney - "Can I Be Me" is a documentary film about the life of the US singer Whitney Houston

content

The future world star Whitney Houston is the daughter of the gospel singer Cissy Houston and grew up in New Jersey . She performed with the gospel choir at a young age and is trained by her strict mother. Despite their Christian upbringing, drug parties are also secretly celebrated. In the early 1980s she was discovered by the music manager Clive Davis and should also reach the white audience, so he turns her into a singer of catchy pop songs. The debut album was a worldwide success, but relatively little is known about the artist. With her friend Robyn Crawford by her side, rumors of a lesbian relationship circulate. In 1989 she met the singer Bobby Brownknow, with whom she has a downright crazy-crazy relationship. Alcohol and drugs now come into play more. When her best friend Robyn drops out after a long conflict with Bobby Brown, Houston loses her footing in her life. Despite a break and the love for her daughter, she gets more and more into a crisis. In 2007 they divorced Bobby Brown. In 2012, Houston was found dead in a hotel bathtub.
