World famous in Austria - 50 Years of Austropop was a documentary film series from 2006 to 2008. Since 2011 new episodes of the series have been produced.

background

In 1971 the first commercially successful Austropop song Da Hofa was released . In 2006 the Hofer's 35th birthday was celebrated on the occasion . Roughly speaking, the Austropop history goes back to the 1950s / post-war period with Pirron & Knapp or Hans Moser and above all Anton Karas , who was number 1 in the American charts with Harry Lime Theme in his time .

At the end of 2006, the first 6 episodes were broadcast for the first time on ORF 1 on Thursday night . From October to December 2007 the ORF repeated the broadcast of the series (this time in orf.music.night ) with two new episodes of the second season. ORF showed the last part of the second season in May 2008. On July 7, 2011, ORF will show a new episode of the third season, which was produced in 2011.

In 2008 the television series was awarded the Romy as the best television documentary.

DVDs

So far, 10 DVDs and two DVD boxes, each with an additional DVD, have been released. Both the documentation and bonus material such as interviews and videos can be found on these DVDs.
