Alkbottle is an Austrian hard rock and heavy metal band from Vienna . Many songs are about beer , alcohol consumption in general and the resulting intoxication . Since 1995 there has also been its own alkbottle beer.

history

The band was founded in 1990 by Roman Gregory and Christian Zitta. They were joined by bassist Marco Billiani and drummer Alex “Mungo” Brunner.

Alkbottle are also known for idiosyncratic cover versions in the Meidlinger dialect , for example Thunderstruck from AC / DC to Fanta Light . For Blader, Fetter, Lauter & A Bissl Mehr they received a gold record in 1994 for more than 25,000 units sold.

In 1998 Alkbottle announced the breakup of the band, after which Roman Gregory began a solo career. In 2001 the band played two concerts on the occasion of the “3 year band breakup anniversary” in Vienna and produced a live DVD . In 2003 Alkbottle recorded the fan anthem You'll Never Walk Alone for the CD of the SK Rapid Wien St. Hanappi football club .

In 2006 the band reunited with the new guitarist Didi Baumgartner. The “Bottle-Buam” then played as part of the “Fett Wia a Christkindl Tour 2007” in Salzburg , Klagenfurt and Vienna, among others , where new material was also presented. In April 2008 the album Rock n 'Roll rules here was presented.

After they separated from drummer Peter Wagner in 2007 due to internal differences and after Ernst Luttinger's successor left after only one year, the band held the "Alkbottle's Next Drummer" contest in 2009. In the context of this competition, Christoph “Madull” Ullmann was finally able to prevail against 7 other contenders. The final took place on July 3, 2009 in the Arena Vienna .

In autumn 2010, Alkbottle released a CD / DVD box for the 20th anniversary. Shortly afterwards, the band was nominated for the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 . Roman Gregory and Marco Billiani produced a promotional video for them, in which Hans Krankl , Toni Polster , the team of SK Rapid Wien and Die Vamummtn appeared.
