The Vamummtn were an Austrian hip-hop group that is considered a pioneer in the slangsta scene. "The Vamummtn" do not disclose their names, the members of the group are referred to as " Ansa ", "Zwara" and "Dreia". She also accompanied her DJ Hard Koarl at concerts.
history
2006–2009: Foundation and early years
The group was founded at the end of 2006. They stated that they founded themselves because of the "almost unbelievable flood of homemade wannabe gangster rap videos". In 2007 they first achieved a certain level of notoriety in the hip-hop scene when they published diss-answers to the videos of the Salzburg hip-hop group SBG Hot Boys on the video portal YouTube . In these they targeted the extremely high crime rate in Salzburg, denounced by the SBG Hot Boys. The feud with the SBG Hot Boys , which lasted for over a year, developed into Austria's first web-based beef , which was also followed by the mainstream press. In the same year the Vamummtn brought out their first mixtape, Geht's Brunzn , online.
At the beginning of 2008, when the Viennese youth culture of Krocha found more and more fans, the rappers put the Vamummtn Krocha anthem on the Internet platform YouTube. The song treats the crocha in a satirical way. After the Krocha anthem met media coverage and the commercialization of youth culture was very advanced, the major label Universal Music Austria signed the band for the single. In June 2008, the group rose to 69th place in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 and rose to 47th place.
Around the same time the Vamummtn came under contract with the Viennese label "Supercity", where they released the street album "Free Hip Hop" at the end of August 2008. In December of the same year the group made their first live appearance in the Obertrumer Braukeller. On September 9th, 2009 the mixtape "Runde 3" was published.
Since 2010: first live performances, debut album, separation
In 2010 the group toured Austria and played at Gasometer (Vienna) and Backstage in Munich. Member Ansa released the album "Niedaschlog" in May 2011 with the Salzburg rapper MOZ .
The group's first album, Rap is (k) a Ponyhof , was released on September 30, 2011. The first pre- single , Schwab's Weg / Festl Gestan 2011 , was released in June 2011 and entered the Austrian charts at number 61 and 69 respectively.
Both the album and the pre-single appear on the group's own label, Schwabs Weg . The distribution takes place in Germany through Groove Attack .
In 2012 they won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the genre "HipHop / R'n'B".
The Vamummtn made a name for themselves repeatedly with Disstracks against the Austrian dialect pop formation Trackshittaz , on the one hand in 2011 with the diss track Hawara schleich di , a dialect cover version of the hit Barbra Streisand by Duck Sauce , and in 2012 with a corresponding intro Cover version of the title Whistle by rapper Flo Rida , which appeared on YouTube around 15 hours after a German version of Trackshittaz .
On December 24th, 2012 the group released their fourth mixtape "Wast wos i man".
In November 2016, "Die Vamummtn" announced their separation.
In March 2020 "Die Vamummtn" will publish a video on Youtube with the title "Die Vamummtn 2.0 - Vo Daham Aus (MAD)". The YouTube channel has been renamed "Vamus 2.0 reloaded". The video raps about the experiences in the quarantine of the corona crisis and announces a new album with Ansa and Dreia. In addition to Ansa and Dreia, the Salzburg rapper MOZ, who has been friends with the Vamummtn for years and has already made a few tracks with the Vamummtn and a collaboration album with Ansa, raps. At the end of the video, a new album called "MAD" is announced.
