Reinhold Bilgeri
Reinhold Bilgeri (born March 26, 1950 in Hohenems , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian musician , writer , screenwriter and filmmaker .
biography
Reinhold Bilgeri was born in Hohenems , Vorarlberg . He is a trained AHS teacher for German , geography , philosophy and psychology and taught at the Bundesgymnasium Feldkirch until 1981. Bilgeri is married to Miss Vorarlberg of 1981, model and actress Beatrix Bilgeri-Kopf (* 1960). Their daughter Laura was born in 1995. The couple lives in Lochau .
Music career
In the 1970s he founded the duo Bilgeri & Köhlmeier together with the writer Michael Köhlmeier . With the song “Oho Vorarlberg” in 1973 the duo achieved a remarkable success in Austria. Bilgeri also gained regional fame as the singer of the West Coast rock band Clockwork , with whom he performed until the beginning of his solo career in 1981.
In 1981 Bilgeri landed a chart hit with the song Video Life . With pieces like Love Is Free or Some Girls are Ladies he later celebrated over twenty successes in the Austrian pop charts in the 1980s and 1990s. With the album "* Oho" in 2001 Bilgeri returned to his music cabaret roots in Vorarlberg.
In December 2002 the video clip "Silver Bell" caused a stir, a Christmas song produced with Don Ron , which portrays the USA as warmongers and the epitome of hypocrisy. The music video was played on the major German music TV channels.
In 2005 “Best of Bilgeri - The Greatest Hits from 4 Decades!” Was released. In 2006 Bilgeri recorded a jazz album “Jazzz it - Songs from Gershwin to Deep Purple” with top-class musicians such as Joe Meixner , Harry Sokal , Willi Langer , Christian Lettner or the Rounder Girls .
Career beyond music
Reinhold Bilgeri is also active as a screenwriter and cabaret artist ("Nothing new in the West") and produced radio plays. In 2005 Bilgeri's novel “The Breath of Heaven” was published by Molden-Verlag, in which he processed the avalanche disaster of 1954 in the Grosses Walsertal . Since the end of 2006, Bilgeri has combined readings from the novel with jazz pieces in his new program. His bestseller “The Breath of Heaven” was published as a paperback in autumn 2007 by Piper Verlag in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
In 2009/2010 the novel The Breath of Heaven was made into a film by himself for the cinema and premiered in 2010.
In 2017 he made the feature film Erik & Erika about ski racer Erik Schinegger .
