Joe Meixner , actually Josip Meixner (born November 2, 1957 in Sisak , Yugoslavia , now Croatia ) is an Austrian pianist.

biography

Joe Meixner began piano training in music school at the age of eight. His father is a great jazz lover and loves playing the harmonica himself. In order for his father to have an accompanying pianist for his beloved evergreens and super hits, Joe has to accompany his father without records or sheet music. At the age of 12, my first improvisations and small compositions are created. After his first engagement as a keyboard player and graduating from music school, from the age of 19 he played for several years as a sought-after accompanying pianist a. a. for Arsen Dedić (singer), Radojka Šverko (singer), Zdenka Kovačiček (singer), for the American superstar Trini Lopez and in the rock operas "Grička Vještica (The Witch of Grič [Gritsch])" and "Gubec Beg" on National Theater Komedija in Zagreb .

In 1982 Meixner came to Vienna and played a. a. in the Red Angel . From 1984 to 1993 he was musical director at Cabaret Simpl (Vienna) , but also played with his own band - u. a. on ORF for Ursula Andress . In 1993 he went to Los Angeles , where he played on the international event scene. He composed songs for the Disney Channel and FX Channel . After six years in California, he returned to Vienna in 2000.

There he founded the soul band “Soul What?”, Engaged the Tower of Power singer Hubert Tubbs and studio musicians such as Willi Langer (bass), Thomas Kugi (saxophone), Martin Fuss (saxophone) and Damir Somen (drums). During this time, Joe Meixner also played as a solo pianist, mainly in Vienna. In 2004 Meixner hired the singer Cassandra Vaughn from Los Angeles and accompanied her with his band at events. The duo CD "Wintermezzo" was also created. In May 2005 he made his debut as a concert pianist at ORF Radio Kulturhaus ("Live in RKH"). In the same year he began to play for the piano manufacturer Bösendorfer as a Bösendorfer artist. In 2006 he played at the Vienna event: "The Long Night of Music" and recorded his second DVD. In 2006 he produced the CD "Jazzz it" for the Austrian singer Reinhold Bilgeri . In 2007 concerts in Prague and Vienna followed.
