The cabaret music duo Bilgeri & Köhlmeier was founded in 1972 by Michael Köhlmeier (writer) and Reinhold Bilgeri (musician).

Working together

With songs like Oho Vorarlberg , Strumpfbandgürtelblues or Frankfurt-Song , the duo became known beyond the borders of Vorarlberg as one of the first non-Viennese representatives of Austropop . With the band Clockwork , the ORF Landesstudio Vorarlberg recorded the album O Wie Lacht , which was soon sold out.

However, the two later went their own way. Michael Köhlmeier pursued a career as a writer, Reinhold Bilgeri managed to get into the Austrian and international charts as a rock, pop and jazz singer.

After 20 years, O Wie Lacht was reissued by Josef Ess (Musikladen Records) and released on CD. The CD sold successfully in Vorarlberg.

In 1995 Köhlmeier & Bilgeri once again dared to take the stage together. They occurred 15 times. Their tour was sold out. The Vorarlberg dialect band ALLDRA was the opening act at some of these concerts and was known to a wider audience for the first time. With her, Michael Köhlmeier re-recorded his O like laughs hit Z'Breagaz at the train station in 2001 . In 1996 a live recording of the tour was released on double CD and video.

Although there have been no joint record projects and concert series since then, Köhlmeier and Bilgeri still occasionally perform together today, for example at the benefit concerts of the Vorarlberg Cancer Aid that take place every year around Christmas time.
