Hella Wenders (* 1977 in Münster ) is a German film director .

biography

Hella Wenders was introduced to work on the film set by her uncle Wim Wenders at an early age . After graduating from high school, Hella Wenders first studied film and television studies. She then worked as an assistant director for various productions until it became clear to her in 2003 while helping at the Berlinale that she would like to direct. She applied to the German Film and Television Academy Berlin and was accepted for the four-year course of directing . In 2006, Hella Wenders' everyday student life was the focus of the Arte documentary The Life of a Film Student .

Various short films have since been made under Hella Wenders' own direction. On behalf of the band Die Toten Hosen, she shot a documentary about their trip to Africa as part of the P8 project . From 2004 to 2006 he made the short films Bright to Cloudy , Where the Pepper Grows , People on Sunday and Marisol . This was followed by the 28-minute individual film Ein Sonntag im Winter, for which she also wrote the script.

In 2008 she filmed a making of the album In aller Stille by Die Toten Hosen and a 45-minute documentary about the making of the feature film Palermo Shooting by Wim Wenders. This was followed by other short films about the band's concert tours in South America and their appearance at Rock am Ring . In autumn 2011, Hella Wenders' documentary about the elementary school in Berg Fidel was awarded the Lüdia , the main prize of the festival, at the Lünen Kinofest .
