occupation

The Formula One film is a German film comedy from 1985 based on the then ARD music program Formula One . It was shot under the direction of Wolfgang Büld for Bavaria Atelier GmbH in Geiselgasteig and Westdeutscher Rundfunk . The film was first shown in theaters on July 5, 1985.

action

The young auto mechanic Tina dreams of a career as a pop singer. She tries her luck with her demo tape at the music show Formula One hosted by Ingolf Lück . There she ran into music producer Jim and his star Günther Sigl from the Spider Murphy Gang . She also meets production assistant Stevie, who erases her tape and with whom she later falls in love. When Meat Loaf rioted in his dressing room and Tina was able to calm him down, she was employed as a star supervisor and met Re-Flex, Pia Zadora, Falco, Limahl and Katrina and the Waves. Stevie, the driver of a general in the German Armed Forces , has now deserted because he believes that Tina Limahl wants to marry. In the end, there are wild chase scenes on the Bavaria site because the general and his troops are looking for Stevie on the set of a war film, while Limahl is being chased by an unsuccessful punk band and their manager.

Film music

The film features music by Die Toten Hosen , Limahl , Falco , Meat Loaf , Pia Zadora , Katrina and the Waves , Re-Flex , Sissy Kelling and The Flirts . A soundtrack album was also released for the film.

Die Toten Hosen appear in the film as a running gag in different disguises and with different names. The band's own music tracks were produced by Jon Caffery and released as an EP in 1985 under the title The Battle of the Bands .

criticism

At Kino.de, Der Formel Eins Film is being made into a German television show with cult character, with many pop stars and a lot of music, "whose weaknesses in story and dialogue do not matter".
