Günther Sigl (born February 8, 1947 in Schongau ) is a German composer , lyricist , musician and co-founder of the Spider Murphy Gang .

Günther Sigl was born in 1947 in Schongau, Upper Bavaria. He and his parents first moved to Landsberg am Lech , then in 1958 on to Karlsruhe , where he attended business school and then trained as a banker . During this time he discovered his passion for music, sang and played guitar in the beat band "The Wavebreakers", with whom he a. a. in the Star Club and in the city hall of Karlsruhe.

In 1968 he moved to Munich and later worked in the Munich bank .

When he decided to become a professional musician in 1971 , he quit his permanent position and toured with Fritz Haberstumpf, Barny Murphy and Franz Trojan as "Stummick" in many clubs in American barracks in southern Germany.

After Haberstumpf left, they founded the Spider Murphy Gang together with Michael Busse in 1977. In 1981 Sigl wrote the top hit " Scandal in the restricted area ".

Together with music producer Harald Steinhauer and music manager Jürgen Thürnau, he founded Mambo Musikverlag in Munich , which is now part of Sony Music.

Günther Sigl got a guest role as an actor in 1985 in the comedy film " Der Formel Eins-Film ", where he played a rock star .

As a composer, lyricist and singer he participated in various music productions, including 1985 with Nicki , 1991 with Ludwig Seuss , 2006 Hubert Treml and 2012 with the hip hop band Blumentopf .

In his private life he is interested in impressionist and expressionist painting.

His first solo CD "Habe die Ehre" was released in 2010.

The band consists of Willie Duncan (guitar, vocals), Dieter Radig (percussion, vocals), Wolfgang Götz (keyboard, vocals) and, since 2015, Robert Gorzawsky on drums.

Günther Sigl & Band played a. a. in the "Lustspielhaus Munich", " Dehnberger Hof Theater ", "Stadttheater Landsberg" and "NUTS Kulturfabrik Traunstein".
