Schickeria is a song by the German band Spider Murphy Gang from 1981. It appeared on the album Dolce Vita and was released as the second single in February 1982. After the scandal in the restricted area , the song continued to make the band famous throughout Germany.
Music and lyrics
The song is a pretty fast rock 'n' roll song with a clean guitar solo. In terms of text, he addresses the Munich crowd and a pub in Schwabing , the name of which is not mentioned. People “like di and mi” (“like you and me”) are not allowed into these, “a little freaked out must be”. The people there drink champagne , take hash and sniff cocaine , even when they are incarcerated in Stadelheim , “but the main thing is that I'm in” (“we're in”).
Emergence
The song was written by Günther Sigl and produced by Harald Steinhauer with the band. Sigl said that Munich's celebrity pub Die Klappe served as a model for the lyrics:
“It was the time when suddenly there were bouncers, 'gorillas', everywhere. For example in the Schwabing celebrity meeting 'Die Klappe'. We never got into the shop with our parkas and long mats. The pub soon became a drug hub and closed. Many a guest ended up in prison in Stadelheim. That was the inspiration for the song. "
Publication and reception
The song was in February 1982 on Electrola as a follow-up single of scandal in Sperrbezirk released and reached in Germany , Austria and Switzerland high chart positions in Switzerland in fifth place in Germany twelfth and Austria 15th place on the B-side is the piece Who will woana .
On 19 April 1982, the band performed with the piece in the ZDF telecast disco on. The band also appeared twice in the ZDF hit parade in 1982 with the song . Although musically it was not part of the Neue Deutsche Welle , it still benefited from the fact that the program opened up to other influences of German-language music than Schlager. After the first appearance on July 5, 1982, she was voted first and was therefore allowed to play the song again in the following edition on August 2, 1982. In the latter program, she also presented the new version Where are you? , with which she then won for the second time in a row. Schickeria was the band's first appearance on the ZDF hit parade; Scandal in the restricted area was not featured in the hit parade, according to Günther Sigl, because Dieter Thomas Heck did not want this. On August 27, 1992, the band Schickeria played again in the ZDF hit parade, this time out of competition.
The band received the Bronze Lion from Radio Luxemburg together with Rosemarie from Hubert Kah for the song in 1982 .

In 2019 Metallica Schickeria played in the sold out Munich Olympic Stadium after the band had already played scandal in the restricted area in Munich in 2018 .
