backgrounds

Fictional prostitute "Rosi"

Text and music come from the band's bassist and singer, Günther Sigl . The song is about a fictional Munich prostitute named Rosi, the prostitutes outside the Munich Sperrbezirks the Free takes away. Rosi was the name of a friend of Sigl's. An inspiration for the song was the hit scandal about Rosi by Erik Silvester from 1970.

Reference to the Munich restricted area ordinance

Scandal in the restricted area arose in the context of the redesign of the Munich restricted area . A stricter restricted area ordinance had already been issued on the occasion of the 1972 Summer Olympics . After the CSU had won a majority in the Munich city council in 1978, the restricted area ordinance was again tightened significantly in 1980. Under the then CSU district administration officer Peter Gauweiler , strict monitoring of the ordinance was introduced from 1982, with which open prostitution was largely displaced to the outskirts of the city. Gauweiler took action against sex clubs, peep shows and restaurants of dubious reputation. He had set himself the goal of banishing "hot sex" from Munich. As a result, prostitution of all forms was forbidden in almost the entire city of Munich, not only on the street, but also in apartments or hotels. As a result, street prostitution areas were shifted to the gates of Munich. Characteristics of this are still visible today, for example B. at a parking lot on the federal highway 13 , near the Autobahn junction Neuherberg of the A 99 , which is still used for street prostitution. Although this parking lot is in the immediate vicinity of the Munich city area, it is still just part of the municipality of Oberschleißheim . As a result of such street prostitution areas, which at that time had formed in the immediate vicinity of the Munich city limits (but still outside the urban area) due to the tightened restricted area ordinance, the lyrics (part of the refrain ) were created: And outside in front of the big city, the hookers stand their feet flat .

Boycott by some broadcasters

Because of the word " Nutten " in the lyrics of the song , radio stations from Bavaria boycotted the song in autumn 1981 after it was published. In contrast, the broadcasters outside of Bavaria took no offense and in early 1982 the song reached number one in the German single charts .

The song was also not played in the ZDF hit parade , according to Günther Sigl, because Dieter Thomas Heck did not want it. The song was "too hot" for him. Erik Silvester sang Scandal about Rosi twice on the show in 1970.

Telephone number 32168

The telephone number "32 16 8" used in the lyrics of the song allegedly existed and belonged to an elderly lady who received dubious calls after the song appeared. On the other hand, singer Sigl said in an interview: “32168 was suddenly the most famous telephone number in Germany. In Munich we checked the number , it didn't exist back then . But in other cities. Some young people had fun there, called and talked stupid. Well, we paid for a few phone number changes back then and sent numerous bouquets of flowers across Germany as an excuse. ”This number has not yet been assigned in Munich.

Cover version

A live version of the 1997 song by the Spider Murphy Gang with Wolfgang Ambros can be found on his album Raritäten .

In 2018 Metallica played the song at a concert in Munich's Olympiahalle.

Continuation version "Rosi"

In 2012 the Munich hip-hop band Blumentopf recorded a continuation of the song together with Günther Sigl , which depicts Rosi as a homeless and destitute old lady, whose charm that she had in the 80s can no longer be seen. She is placed in a group of losers in society. The list also cynically includes sons of prostitutes who, in their desolation, should think gratefully of their mothers every day.

Another continuation is the song: "Jetz geht ma ins KP" from the album "Overdose Rock 'n' Roll". (1987 produced by Ariola) Since the restricted area had to close because of Rosi, the municipality decided to run a brothel.
