history
Schleissheim was first mentioned in a document as "Sliusheim" 785. In 1315 the place appears as "Sleizheim". When Duke Wilhelm V (the pious) bought a Schwaige there , Schleissheim became a subsidiary and later a hunting seat for the Wittelsbach family. Between 1616 and 1623 Duke Maximilian I had the old castle built. From 1701 to 1726 the New Palace was built on behalf of Elector Max Emanuel , as was the Lustheim Palace.
In the middle of the 19th century, Oberschleißheim received a train station called "Schleissheim" on the Munich – Landshut line . This was replaced in 1972 in the course of the opening of the S-Bahn by a new station "Oberschleißheim" a few hundred meters north. The airfield was built in 1912, making it the oldest still active airfield in Germany. In 1917 the Schleißheimer Straße was interrupted as a direct road connection to Munich, it has since ended in the Munich district of Hasenbergl . During the Second World War , the air force base was heavily bombed, which also led to considerable damage in the local area and at the castle.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 10,243 to 11,810 by 1,567 inhabitants or 15.3%.
