Straßlach-Dingharting is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Munich .

geography

location

The community is located about 18 kilometers south-southwest of the center of Munich . In the west of the municipality is the Isar valley, where the Isar and the parallel Mühltalkanal (also called the Isar Canal ) flow .

history

The geology of the municipality, consisting of moraine hills and the gravel plain, was formed in the Ice Age. Several archaeological monuments attest to an approximately 100 BC. Settlement area developed in BC.

Before the municipal reform , all of the villages were in the former Wolfratshausen district . On May 1, 1978, the previously independent communities of Dingharting and Straßlach were merged to form the new community of Straßlach. In 1989 the name of the municipality was officially changed to Straßlach-Dingharting .

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 2,457 to 3,206 by 749 inhabitants or by 30.5%.

The municipal council consists of 16 members and has three committees.

The first mayor is Hans Sienerth (non-party). He ran for election with the alliance BP-FWG-UWV and was re-elected on March 15, 2020 with 87.5% of the votes cast.

The municipality is located in the district of Straßlach.

Trivia

The current mayor of Munich, Dieter Reiter , ran for the municipal council in Straßlach-Dingharting in 2008; Despite the second place on the list, he won no mandate, as the SPD only had one mandate in total. He continued to live in Straßlach-Dingharting until April 2011, until on October 25, 2011, the Munich SPD executive board proposed him as the only applicant to the local nomination assembly for candidate for mayor.

Infrastructure

Since raft trips are operated on the Isar, there is a concrete raft slide next to the power plant in the Straßlach part of the river , which a raft can use to overcome the barrage. It is considered to be the longest raft slide in the world.

The Mühltal hydropower station and an excursion inn are located on the Mühltal Canal .

The main street of the municipality is State Road 2072 , which runs in a north-south direction . A few kilometers further west is the federal highway 11 from Munich to Wolfratshausen .

Personalities

  • Joseph Peruschitz (1871–1912), Benedictine priest, born in Straßlach. He became famous for his behavior in the sinking of the Titanic .
  • Karl Heinz Beckurts (1930–1986), Siemens board member, resident in Straßlach. On July 9, 1986 Beckurts and his chauffeur Eckhard Groppler were victims of a bomb attack by the RAF on the Straßlach – Grünwald state road shortly after leaving Straßlach .
