The Regattaparksee - also known to many locals as the Regattasee - is an artificial lake in Feldmoching (southwest part) and Oberschleißheim (northeast part) in the north-west of Munich . Only the north and west banks are approved for swimming. The southern third of the lake is a fenced biotope . The water was created as a quarry pond through the excavation of gravel for the expansion of the federal motorway 99 .
location
The Regattaparksee is about 200 meters from the Oberschleißheim regatta course . Like the regatta course, the Regattaparksee is partly in Oberschleißheim and partly in the Munich district of Feldmoching . The Schwebelbach runs directly to the east of the lake .
fauna and Flora
Among other things, red carnation , spring famine , round-leaved bellflower , meadow bellflower , meadow daisy and meadow sage grow in the biotope . On animals to find sand lizard , wagtail , Bleßralle , ringed plovers , grebes , cormorants , Wigeon , Tufted , reed bunting , marsh tit , hawker , Blue Arrow , banded demoiselle and Plattbauch . The landscape protection area is listed as biotope M-247 in the urban biotope mapping 1981–84.
The water of the Regattaparksee is clean, so that aquatic and noble crabs can multiply here .
Excursion destination
The Regattaparksee is an extremely popular destination due to its proximity to Munich, Dachau and the surrounding communities. It can be reached directly by car (A 92 exit Oberschleißheim / Dachau), there are a large number of parking spaces. A continuous cycle path runs along federal highway 471 between Dachau and Oberschleißheim, which makes the lake popular as a destination for cycling trips. It can also be reached directly by bicycle from the Munich district of Feldmoching (the A 92 is crossed under). There are no permanently installed sanitary facilities, but some mobile toilet cubicles are set up during the bathing season. There is also a mobile kiosk near the shore at irregular intervals. During the bathing season, the lake is partially overcrowded, especially on weekends and during the Bavarian school holidays. It is worth making a detour to the regatta course in Oberschleißheim, which is not far away . Swimming is permitted in a section of 200 meters in length.
Bathing operation
The shore of the Regattaparksee slopes very gently almost everywhere, which is very popular with families with small children. The good water quality and the light pebbles make the lake appear very "blue". The reason can be seen near the shore, there is little or no algae growth in the areas frequented by bathers. The surrounding lawns are shaded in places by tall trees.
