Michael Kostner (born February 7, 1969 in Munich ) is a former German soccer player .

player

Michael Kostner's career was a constant up and down. From the Bundesliga at Eintracht Frankfurt it went to the third-class Kickers from Offenbach . With 1. FC Saarbrücken he made the leap back to the Bundesliga. There he convinced with sovereign performances, was invited by national coach Berti Vogts to a screening course for the national team at the Wedau sports school in September 1992 and also drew the attention of Hamburger SV to himself. There he could not prevail and in 1995 moved to FC 08 Homburg in the 3rd division. At the time, many did not understand why coach Peter Neururer brought him to 1. FC Köln in 1996. Still a regular under Neururer, Bernd Schuster , who took over as coach in Cologne in 1998 after relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga , found no use for Kostner and let him go. The defender ended his active career in 2000 at Wacker Burghausen . However, he also came later to some assignments at his coaching stations in Freilassing and Ampfing. Kostner played his last game on August 14, 2011 for TSV Ampfing when they played at VfR Garching .

Trainer

Kostner then stayed with Wacker Burghausen, he coached his second team until the summer of 2006. In the 2006/07 season Kostner headed the ESV Freilassing as a player- coach and led the team to the championship title of the District League Oberbayern Ost and the associated promotion to the District Oberliga Oberbayern . From the 2007/08 season Kostner was a coach at the district league team TSV Ampfing , which he also led to the district league championship and promotion in the 2008/09 season. After the intended promotion to the national league did not succeed in the following two seasons, the club wanted to achieve promotion in the 2011/12 season, in which there was a much higher number of promotion places due to the league reform. After the team stayed in the lower part of the table during the season, Kostner resigned as coach on March 26, 2012. For the 2012/13 season he was coach of the county league team TSV Dorfen . With the club, he rose to the district league in 2014. After the 2017/18 winter break, he was signed by the relegation-threatened Bayern league club SV Kirchanschöring , whom Kostner led to relegation.

Alleged illegal work

On June 24, 2008, the main customs office in Rosenheim searched Kostner's apartment as well as the premises of ESV Freilassing and its employees on suspicion of illegal work. Kostner is said to have received a salary from the association while he was working in Freilassing, although he also received unemployment benefits.
