Platform of the Wutzkyallee underground station before the renovation

The Wutzkyallee is a station of the Berlin U-Bahn - U7 . It was opened on January 2, 1970 as part of the extension to Zwickauer Damm and is 858 meters from Lipschitzallee underground station and 629 meters from Zwickauer Damm underground station. The station is located in the Gropiusstadt district , in the BVG station directory this station has the abbreviation Wk .

The interior of the station was originally designed by the architect Rainer G. Rümmler . Here, too, emphasis was placed on simplicity. The station has a central platform with a staircase in the middle that leads to a vestibule. The design is similar to that of the Lipschitzallee train station, but the color relationships have been reversed. Here the wall tiles are designed in blue and the central supports are white. The blue wall is only interrupted by a continuous white strip on which the station name is written. The platform and ceiling are gray.

From late summer 2014, the underground station - like the Wutzky-Center above it - was rebuilt with the aim of integrating a new exit into the center and creating a second exit to the north and making the station barrier-free with an elevator . Renovation of the underground facilities was originally planned for 2013. The elevator was put into operation in December 2015, together with the installation of a guidance system for the blind and the adjustment of the platform edge height, the station has been barrier-free since then. The costs for the barrier-free expansion are given as 2.9 million euros. The new northern staircase was opened in February 2016. The back track walls were also redesigned in the course of the basic renovation and now show a. Photos from the early days of Gropiusstadt. Overall, the renovation and conversion costs were 5.5 million euros.

Connection

The underground station is only served by the U7 line. There are no transfer options to other local public transport lines.
