The Berliner Verkehrsblätter with the subtitle information document of the Arbeitskreis Berliner Nahverkehr e. V. have been published since 1954. The series of magazines provides monthly information on historical and current public transport in Berlin and the surrounding area. It will appear in the 66th volume in 2019, and more than 700 issues have been published to date.

history

The magazine was founded in 1954 by Siegfried Münzinger and Wolfgang Kramer and was published in 1954 and 1955 under the name Der Berliner Verkehrsamateur . The aim of the magazine was to record and document the modernization of the traffic sector with new technology and new vehicles that began with the reconstruction in a traffic history that was to be updated. The brochure has been published monthly since the beginning and began with a free, three-page, hectographed edition of 30 copies. At the beginning of the 1970s, the volume was 20 pages and the print run was over 500 copies, still written on a hand matrix and reproduced by hand. Since January 1972 the traffic papers have been produced using offset printing . Today (as of 2019) the volume is 20 to 24 pages in A4 format . It is distributed by subscription or through specialist shops, the editions are not available online.

According to its own information, the reporting of the Berliner Verkehrsblätter includes "current and historical topics: line chronicle, car pool, tariff system, museum vehicles, technology, reviews and current short reports from the areas of S-Bahn, U-Bahn, railway, tram, omnibus and passenger shipping". Photos and illustrations complement the reports. The topics of the 1/2012 issue include, for example: Berlin steam trams 1886–1898 and milestones on the main and cemetery railway . A series of publications supplements the publications of the Berliner Verkehrsblätter. The subjects of the books include a line chronicle of the tram from 1945 to 1993, a chronicle of the Berlin subway and a compendium of the stations of the Berlin S-Bahn .

In addition to its publishing activities, the Berliner Verkehrsblätter take part in exhibitions, special trips and information events.
