Siemensdamm underground station

The Siemensdamm is a station of the Berlin U-Bahn - U7 that the north-west extension of the U7 direction on 1 October 1980 at the course Spandau was opened. It is located between the street of the same name and Popitzweg in the Siemensstadt district . The station is referred to as you in the BVG station directory .

The station was designed in honor of Werner von Siemens , who played a key role in the construction of the Berlin subway. The underground station was designed by Rainer G. Rümmler . Numerous achievements by Siemens are depicted in circular murals. The station name on the walls was based on the Siemens - word mark designed by 1936th

In 2003 the station was completely renovated.

In March 2017, it was announced that the underground station - along with six others on the northern U7 - would be listed as a historical monument .

On December 22, 2017, an elevator from the subway platform to the street surface was put into operation, so that the station has been barrier-free since then .

Multipurpose shelter

Western air filter tower

The platform area can be completely separated from the tunnel system by four massive reinforced concrete gates with additional signaling; each entrance has another gate to lock it. Since the entire system is to be operated with overpressure in order to prevent the ingress of gases, there are check valves in the tunnel area , which generate a loud, audible “pop” characteristic of this station with every train entry. The south-eastern entrance has a gas lock and a loudspeaker in order to be able to give instructions to those seeking protection if necessary. The system has one air filter tower at its eastern end and two at its western end, six meters high. If necessary, it is planned to set up a train on each of the tracks in the facility in order to have the track areas available as additional living and sleeping rooms. Power generators and water filters then supply up to 4500 people on the mezzanine and on the platform.

Connection

At the underground station you can change from the U7 line to the BVG bus lines 123 and 139 .
