Christian Wagner (director)

Christian Wagner (born September 26, 1959 in Immenstadt im Allgäu ) is a German film director and screenwriter. He teaches feature film, development and acting as a professor at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy .

Life

From 1981 Wagner studied modern German literature, theater studies and psychology in Munich and also made his first feature films. With Nico Hofmann , Jan Schütte , Werner Penzel, Nico Humbert, Donatello Dubini , Fosco Dubini and others, he founded the independent distribution cooperative “Der Andere Blick” in 1985.

For his feature film Wallers last walk , the story of a track walker (played by Rolf Illig told) of the web, the line is shut down, Wagner was awarded the 1988 Bavarian Film Award , the Award of the German Film Critics , the German Film Prize in ( Film Ribbon in Silver ) and a Felix nomination.

His second major feature film, Transatlantis , was shown as a German entry in the 1995 Berlinale competition . The short film Zita - a short film about laziness was awarded the special prize of the jury at the Torino Film Festival in Turin.

For the television film Ghettokids - Brothers Without a Home , Wagner received the Golden Gong in 2002 and was nominated for the Adolf Grimme Prize in 2003.

In 2004 Christian Wagner was appointed professor at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy .

His third feature film Stille Sehnsucht - Warchild , the second part of Wagner's "Balkan Blues Trilogy", had its world premiere at the World Film Festival in Montréal in August 2006 and received the award for best screenplay there. The film received a special jury award at the 2006 Bavarian Film Prize.

In 2009 he shot the TV film Hopfensommer for ARD . The end of patience followed again in autumn 2013 for ARD . The world premiere took place at the Munich Film Festival in 2014, the international premiere at the World Film Festival.

Wagner is a member of the European Film Academy EFA and the German Film Academy .
