The record reached number one on the Italian M&D charts and became the best-selling single of the year.

text

The lyrics are about daydreams and wanderlust on a summer day in the city as well as the longing for a distant love affair. The title stands for the azure blue of the summer sky. Like the song Capri-Fischer , Azzurro stood for the longing for Italy in German hits with his German-language interpretations .

Other versions

Many Italian singers have interpreted the song, besides Celentano also Mina , Gianni Morandi , Fiorello and Bruno Grassini . The Italian national football team (nickname: the "Azzurri") also published the piece. There are also German-language interpretations by Peter Rubin , Dieter Thomas Kuhn and Peter Alexander . Die Toten Hosen produced a punk version, which is included on the album Auf dem Kreuzzug ins Glück . There is also a film of the same name inspired by the song . In 2012 Rummelsnuff released its version. Conte himself only recorded the song for the album Concerti in 1985 after a ten-year solo career .
