Peter Rubin , bourgeois: Peter Kohlhuber (born May 5, 1942 in Ostrau , Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia ), is a German singer, presenter, songwriter and guitarist.

Life

After leaving school, Peter Rubin first did a commercial apprenticeship. Then he studied economics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In the 1960s he founded the band Pemagos with friends . In 1966, his first record was released, Homeward Bound . In 1967 he represented Germany at the International Song Competition in Sopot / Poland . At the end of the 1960s he had his first big successes in the German charts with Hätt ich once only and with Azzurro . In 1973 he published his best-known title We two go somewhere . In over 45 years of hit business, he recorded around 40 singles and a similar number of albums, worked as a songwriter for other artists, presented various radio programs and appeared regularly on the well-known music television programs. Together with Freddy Breck and Cindy & Bert , the album Merry Christmas was created in 1974 and Happy Holidays in 1976 .

Because of his height of 2 meters, he received the title of "Germany's greatest pop singer" at an early age. On this topic, he also published hits such as Always Trouble with the Bed or XXL . Sometimes he made a name for himself as an operetta singer. With the song First comes my love (then Napoleon) he took part in the German Schlager Competition in 1970 .

In the 1980s he took a break from his long tours and mainly worked as a presenter for the radio of Südwestfunk and Bavarian Broadcasting . In the latter, until the program reform in 1996, he moderated the “telephone request concert”, alternating weekly with Klaus Havenstein , Ruth Kappelsberger and Walter Föhringer .

Peter Rubin lives with his family in Stockdorf near Munich and has his own recording studio in his house.
