Paul Shyvers

Paul Shyvers (born December 9, 1970 - November 22, 2012 ) was an English director of music videos . He specialized in live concerts.

Life

Paul Shyvers showed great interest in rock music and the media during his school days. He played drums in various bands until he took a job as an assistant at British MTV in the mid-1990s . There he finally got the opportunity to develop a show called brand: new together with Zane Lowe and thus to make many contacts with bands that he filmed with DVC cameras at occasional gigs . MTV-International then became aware of Shyvers and invited him to a newcomer director's day, where he could record a band live in the studio in two hours and then cut the material to provide a sample of his skills. A week later, Shyvers was commissioned by MTV to direct the Linkin Park concert recording in Milan.

Since then Shyvers has filmed a wide variety of international musicians, including Coldplay , Red Hot Chili Peppers , The Strokes , The Who , Foo Fighters , REM , Green Day and Die Toten Hosen . Shyvers worked for Splinter Films in London.

Paul Shyvers died on November 22nd, 2012 after a long and serious illness. He was married and had two sons.
