... where is our Altbier?

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

... where is our Altbier? is a carnival song written by Hans Ludwig Lonsdorfer from 1978. The song was recorded in 1978 in a backyard studio on Ellerstrasse in Düsseldorf . Ralph Marquis was hired as the background singer, and Lonsdorfer sang the main part himself. The song caused great enthusiasm at the first performances at the carnival. Right at the first performance, the audience jumped at the song, swayed and sang along.

The song was performed by the carnival singer Hans Lötzsch at the carnival hit parade on WDR . It was voted the best carnival piece of the session by the television audience on February 4, 1978. For this, the man from Düsseldorf was awarded a Golden Cathedral .

The song was covered in 1986 under the title Das Altbierlied by Die Toten Hosen and released on the album Damenwahl . Another version was published by Tom Angelripper .

The carnival song with the catchy refrain (Yes, we are in the forest here? Where's our Altbier? We have the longest bar in the world in Düsseldorf ...) is now also sung outside of the carnival in stadiums for football and ice hockey games in Düsseldorf clubs.
