In 2003 numerous German musicians who became famous through casting shows covered the song Do They Know It's Christmas? Under the name TV Allstars . , The proceeds went to the SOS Children's Villages campaign worldwide .

criticism

The Band Aid projects are accused of generating an unreflective view of the African continent and of pushing the people there into a pure victim role.

One day after the publication, the singer Patrice , who was involved in the Band Aid 30 project, distanced himself from his participation: “I have many relatives in Sierra Leone, one of the heavily affected countries. The spread of the most blatant 'Charity Porn', as shown in the opening sequence of the video, is therefore perhaps particularly close to me. In any case, I cannot and will not accept that in silence. ”Referring to the Band Aid 30 logo, he criticized that it shows the African continent, although only three countries were affected by the Ebola epidemic.
