Big fun
Big Fun was a British boy band that existed from 1989 to 1994 and was considered Scotland's answer to bros in the early days .
biography
Originally, the cover version I Feel the Earth Move should appear as the first single in the spring of 1989 . But since the singer Martika anticipated this plan, Living for Your Love was released instead - but without any significant success.
Then came the collaboration with the successful production team Stock Aitken Waterman , who produced the track Blame It on the Boogie , the original of which is from The Jacksons . The single reached number four in the UK and number 15 in the German charts . Almost three months later, the follow-up single Can't Shake the Feeling was number 8 on the UK charts and number 41 on the German charts.
In the same year the group took part in the benefit project Band Aid II together with the other Pete Waterman Limited artists such as Kylie Minogue , Lisa Stansfield or Jason Donovan . The single Do They Know It's Christmas? became a number one hit in England.
With the single Handful of Promises released in March 1990, Big Fun narrowly missed the British Top 20 (21st place). A quarter of a year later, You've Got a Friend , a feature starring pop singer Sonia , was # 14 in the UK. This song was the group's only chart hit that was not on the album A Pocketful of Dreams , which was released in May 1990 and reached number 7 in the UK and number 39 in Germany. The song Hey There Lonely Girl , released as a single in August, was the trio's last chart success, but did not go beyond number 62 in the UK charts.
In 1994 Phil Creswick and Mark Gillespie tried a comeback as Big Fun II, but without Jason Herbert. The only single from that time, Stomp , failed to make it into the charts, which resulted in the duo's split. Phil Creswick founded the group Family Fantastic with Vince Clarke from Erasure , who released the album Nice! brought to market. The track Better Days included on it was penned by Gillespie.
