Lemar (2007)

Lemar (* 4. April 1978 in Tottenham , London as Lemar Obika ) is an igbo - British R & B singer.

Career

Lemar began his career supporting Usher and Destiny's Child . Nevertheless, it was ignored for a long time and its reputation only slowly built up. A major label contract he had already signed was terminated due to internal restructuring on the label side. His breakthrough he finally succeeded in 2002 with the participation in the talent show Fame Academy of the British television channel BBC .

On April 18, 2005 Lemar released the single "If There's Any Justice" from his album "Time to Grow". On April 25, 2005, "Time to Grow" was released in Germany by Sony BMG. On September 4, 2006 the new single "It's Not That Easy" from the third album "The Truth About Love" (to be released on September 19) was released in England.

In April and May 2007 Lemar was seen live in Germany as Beyoncé's “special guest” . In 2018 he took part in the tenth season of the figure skating show Dancing on Ice .

Today Lemar is one of the most famous European RnB stars, although typically the US artists get the most attention. Lemar has been put on par with other internationally renowned UK acts like Jamelia by critics .
