Heidelberger Spieleverlag

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heidelberger Spieleverlag was a German game publisher based in Walldürn near Buchen , which was founded in the early 1990s. At the beginning of 2017, Heidelberger Spieleverlag merged with Asmodée and was integrated into this publisher as Studio HeidelBÄR Games. In 2018, the studio separated from Asmodée again and founded the new publisher HeidelBÄR Games GmbH. As a result, the Heidelberger Spieleverlag was brought back to life: the wholesaler JoeKas World became the new Heidelberger Spieleverlag and now sells the games from HeidelBÄR Games exclusively in Germany.

The new Heidelberger Spieleverlag , based in Elztal Dallau, is a pure wholesaler that acts as the exclusive distributor of the publishers HeidelBÄR Games, CGE - Czech Games Edition, Horrible Guild, Mogel Verlag, Ferti Games and Mebo . The range is supplemented with games from Jolly Thinkers, Abacus, DLP Games, Irongames, Truant Games, etc.

history

After the publishing house was founded, games by the owners Harald Bilz and Peter Gutbrod were published, of which Neolithibum and Pfusch achieved 10th place in the German Games Prize in 1992 and 1993 respectively . From 1994, then there was a break in their own game production and a focus on the wholesale with board games from over 100 different publishers. There were also many small in -house publishers who only produced a few games.

From 1999 on, the Heidelberger Spieleverlag started producing its own card games like Nothing but Trouble . One focus was on inexpensive children's card games and card games with a historical context. After that, the publisher also increasingly dealt with the translation and distribution of imported games with fantasy or science fiction themes such as: B. The Iron Throne , Talisman , Arkham Horror , Warcraft , StarCraft , Battlestar Galactica and Doom board games.

The publisher had meanwhile also taken over the largely exclusive distribution of game publishers outside Germany in Germany. However, some publishers only sold individual games if they have several partners in Germany. This applied to the following publishers, among others: Fantasy Flight Games , Repos Productions , Hurrican, Matagot, Nexus Games , Valley Games, Czech Games Editions , Ferti. Furthermore, the Heidelberger Spieleverlag was the distribution in Germany for Alea-Spiele , Lookout Games , Moskito-Spiele , PD-Verlag and the Mario-Truant-Verlag.

The publisher's logo was a bear in a sailor suit throwing a dice into the air and is now being used in a slightly different form by the HeidelBÄR Games studio, which was founded at the end of 2017, within Asmodée . In February 2019, the studio separated from Asmodée and founded the new independent publisher HeidelBÄR Games GmbH .
