Mazarine Marie Mitterrand Pingeot (born December 18, 1974 in Avignon , Vaucluse ) is a French writer , journalist and occasional screenwriter . She is the daughter of Anne Pingeot (* 1943) and François Mitterrand (1916–1996).

Life

Her father Mitterrand and her mother Anne Pingeot met in 1961 and were in a relationship from 1962 until Mitterrand's death. Mitterrand - a high-ranking politician , who ran for the office of French President for the first time in 1965, was elected to this office in 1981 and re-elected in 1988 - did not divorce his wife Danielle .

Mazarine Pingeot's existence was one of France's best-kept state secrets. François Mitterrand officially recognized his illegitimate daughter in January 1984. He lived separately from his wife Danielle and was very anxious to cover up his relationship with his "second wife" and the illegitimate daughter. He looked after his daughter and visited her frequently. These visits often resembled night-and-fog operations, sometimes with assistance from the French secret service.

Two years before the French President's death in 1996, Mitterrand's fatherhood and its sometimes bizarre circumstances became known to the public. There are a few photos that show Mitterrand with the then still young daughter in her arms.

On July 16, 2005, the France Soir newspaper reported that Mazarine Pingeot had a son named Ascot. According to an interview, this should be raised in the town of Gordes in the south of France , where Pingeot spent a lot of time with her mother and father in her childhood.

Pingeot described more in her autobiographical book Bouche Cousue , published in 2005 (analogously: " Redverbot "). According to her own statements, her pregnancy was the “triggering element” for her to tell her life. In January 2006, Pingeot decided to call itself Mazarine Mitterrand Pingeot.

Pingeot also works as a screenwriter. She was involved in the 2016 films The Unexpected Happiness of the Payan Family and The Economics of Love .
