Justin David Hawkins (born March 17, 1975 in Chertsey , Surrey , England ) is an English musician, singer and songwriter .

Career

Hawkins became known as the singer and lead guitarist of the band The Darkness , which he founded with his brother Dan Hawkins . Since 2005 he has also been running his solo project British Whale . Hawkins sings on The Darkness with a distinctive falsetto voice about music inspired by the glam rock and hard rock of the 1970s and 1980s. In 2006 he left the band. a. his longtime drug addiction. Hawkins has been back with The Darkness since 2011.

Hawkins took part in the first season of the British version of The Masked Singer as Chameleon in January 2020 , in which he finished tenth of twelve places.

Works

In 2009 he released the album Red Light Fever with his new glam rock band Hot Leg . Most recently, he was also on the album Hang Cool Teddy Bear of Meat Loaf involved, for which he co-wrote two pieces, as well as guitar and background vocals on each took one of these two pieces. Hawkins also took on a verse and backing vocals for the song "Party all day (F ** k all night)" by the band Steel Panther on their album "Feel the Steel" (2009).
