history

Originally started as the BBC's own radio program magazine with the title The Radio Times and the subtitle The Official Organ of the BBC , it later also began providing information on television programs and became the world's first television program magazine in 1936. In 1960, television-related information was given priority over the radio program for the first time in the magazine. In the early 1990s, the British television program lists were deregulated, so that from then on a number of magazines competing with RadioTimes appeared. In 2011 the BBC sold RadioTimes to the publishing house Immediate Media Company , which in turn was taken over by the German media group Hubert Burda Media in January 2017 .
