Shirley Klarisse Yonavive "Skye" Edwards (born May 27, 1974 in southeast London ) is a British singer . She was a founding member and lead singer of the triphop band Morcheeba , which she separated from in 2004 and to which she returned in 2010. In the meantime she pursued a solo career and released her first solo CD in 2006 under the stage name Skye . The name Skye is composed of the first letters of her first name and her surname.

Edwards is married to the musician Steve Gordon and has four children.

Career as a musician

Skye Edwards has been part of the band's basic formation since Morcheeba was founded in 1995. In April 2004 the brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey separated from Skye. During this period of her career she also worked with David Byrne (album Feelings , 1997) and participated in two charity CDs, Perfect Day for the benefit of BBC Children in Need (1997) and Band Aid 20 for the benefit of those in need in Darfur (2004) .

Skye described the new possibility of being able to make her own music after the breakup as liberating. Her debut album Mind How You Go , for which she worked with producers Pat Leonard , Daniel Lanois and Gary Clark, was released in February 2006 on Atlantic Records UK . The music on it is not far from the triphop of the music produced with Morcheeba. The most successful single from it was Love Show (it was also used as final music in the 13th episode of the third season of the series Grey's Anatomy ). In the same year their cover version of Feel Good Inc. was released by the Gorillaz . The live collaboration with the French music project Nouvelle Vague from 2007 resulted in two pieces on the album Hollywood, Mon Amour . She then interpreted Call Me by Blondie and A View to a Kill by Duran Duran with very reduced instrumental accompaniment in the style of singer-songwriters . At the end of October 2009 her second solo album Keeping Secrets was released on her own label Skyewards Recordings.

In February 2010, the Godfrey brothers and Edwards announced that they had gotten back together and were working on a new Morcheeba album together. The album Blood Like Lemonade was released in mid-June 2010.

In September 2012 the first single Featherlight was released for Skye's third solo album Back To Now . The album was released on October 29, 2012. Her fourth solo album, In A Low Light , was released in 2015.

In September 2016 she released the album Skye & Ross together with Ross Godfrey, her bandmate from Morcheeba , with which the two also went on tour.
