Fair Erfurt
The Messe Erfurt is the exhibition center in the west of the Thuringian state capital Erfurt . It is located outside of the city center near the airport on the B 7 . The Rockets basketball club has been playing its games at Messe Erfurt since the 2016/17 season .

With a gross area of 46,670 square meters, the exhibition grounds extend over three halls, the Congress Center and the outdoor area.
Mainly trade fairs , concerts and exhibitions are held in the two exhibition halls with 7,000 m² each . Concerts with up to 12,000 people and conferences with up to 5,200 people take place regularly in Hall 1 (multi-purpose hall). Messe Erfurt has a total of 25,070 m² of covered exhibition space (Hall 1 (multi-purpose hall), two exhibition halls and the Congress Center) and 21,600 m² of outdoor space, making it the second largest trade fair location in the new federal states.
Congresses, events and meetings with up to 1,600 people take place all year round in the connected Congress Center of Messe Erfurt. The Congress Center comprises seven conference rooms that can be divided into up to 12 rooms. The Carl Zeiss Hall, the largest room in the Congress Center , can accommodate up to 726 people. On the third floor there is a multifunctional panorama hall, which allows a view over Erfurt.
History of Erfurt as a trade fair location
Erfurt received the fair privilege from Emperor Ludwig in 1331 . In the 14th and 15th centuries, the city with around 20,000 inhabitants reached its economic, political and intellectual-cultural boom and became a long-distance trading city of European standing. At the end of the 15th century, the city's economic power fell due to the relocation of trade routes and the granting of trade fair privileges to Leipzig. In 1950 the trade fair tradition revived with the International Horticultural Exhibition.

sustainability
The grounds of Messe Erfurt are used for congresses and meetings, trade fairs and exhibitions, and concerts and events. The buildings are designed with an ecological and economical building infrastructure in mind and have a green roof. Messe Erfurt continues to rely on 100 percent green electricity. In addition, with the support of the Thuringian Beekeepers' Association. V. settled five bee colonies on the roof of the Erfurt exhibition center.

Public transport
Messe Erfurt is connected to the city center by tram . A P + R parking lot right next to the exhibition center enables you to switch to the tram. There are also bus connections to the western area around Erfurt.

The Erfurt Central Station is integrated into the long-distance network of Deutsche Bahn AG.
