Viesen [ ˈfiːsn̩ ] has been part of the municipality of Rosenau in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in western Brandenburg since 2001 .

geography

Viesen is about ten kilometers southwest of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel on the city limits. The neighboring village to the east is the village of Mahlenzien about three kilometers away, and Rogäsen is two kilometers to the west . The village is in the transition zone between the Baruth glacial valley belonging Fiener break to the south and the plateaus of Karower plate in the north. history

Visene was first mentioned in a document in 1282. It was on the old Brandenburg – Magdeburg military road . Around 1800 there were two manors and a windmill in the village. The von Britzke family held the right of patronage for centuries . On September 30, 1928 the manor district Viesen was united with the rural community Viesen.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Mahlenzien was incorporated. On December 6, 1993, this district was lost through an assignment of territory to the city of Brandenburg an der Havel .

Attractions

The village church Viesen is a stone church from the middle of the 13th century. In addition to this, there is a homestead on Dorfstrasse at number 37, the old Schulzenhöft at 45 and a residential building with a stable under 51, which are listed as historical monuments.
