Mega rock into the holidays

Mega Rock in die Ferien (own spelling: mega-ROCK in die Ferien ) was a music festival of the Thuringia newspaper group , which was organized by the event agency Semmel Concerts and attracted around 10,000 visitors annually. From 2002 to 2005 the radio station Jump presented the music festival. From 2006, Antenne Thüringen supported the teen rock festival.

Since 1999 it has always taken place at the beginning of the summer holidays in Thuringia on the exhibition grounds in Erfurt and was aimed primarily at younger students. In 2013 the organizer, the Thuringia newspaper group, decided against the continuation of the concert series for reasons of cost.

Contrary to the name, the focus of the festival was not on rock from the start , but rather on pop music suitable for the masses . Successful artists as well as newcomers were always on the stage. In 2005, for example, Tokio Hotel had one of their first major appearances here.
