Zlatko "Sladdi" Trpkovski (born January 1, 1976 in Nördlingen ) is a German car mechanic and singer of North Macedonian descent who temporarily achieved very high fame in 2000 with his participation in the first German season of the television show Big Brother .

life and career

Zlatko Trpkovski grew up in Nattheim , a community near Heidenheim an der Brenz . Together with twelve other participants, the then 24-year-old took part in the first season of Big Brother , which began on February 28, 2000. There he achieved a high level of awareness, especially due to his appearance and his poor general knowledge, and quickly became a crowd favorite. Nevertheless, after 41 days, on April 9th, he was selected from the Big Brother container by audience vote after he had to compete against Jürgen Milski , who later came second .

Despite his departure, Trpkovski enjoyed great popularity afterwards and then tried his hand at a pop singer . In May 2000 he released his first single, Ich miss' dich wie die Hölle, and was able to land a number one hit straight away, which was awarded 3 × gold . After the Big Brother show ended on June 9th, he and his former roommate Milski recorded the single Big Brother , which also reached number one in the charts and was once again awarded platinum. In mid-July 2000 he released his own album Ich bleibe wer ich bin , which was created in collaboration with Bob Arnz and Christoph Siemons , who wrote the lyrics for his album. During the summer and autumn of 2000, he had a strong media presence and was a guest on numerous television shows, including stern TV , Boulevard Bio , the Harald Schmidt Show and TV total . He was also included as a playable figure in the official Big Brother computer game Big Brother - The Game .

In the meantime, according to a survey, 75 percent of all Germans knew who “Zlatko” was. Because of his fame, he even got his own documentary soap with Zlatkos Welt on the TV channel RTL II , in which the camera accompanied him as he prepared for his performances. However, the show was not produced after the sixth episode. In autumn 2000 he made a movie with him in the lead role, the crime comedy Mr. Boogie (the only directorial work by producer Vesna Jovanoska , with Sunnyi Melles and Ivan Desny among others ). In it, Trpkovski played a private detective who is hired by a rich woman to have the body of her lover disappeared inconspicuously. The movie was due to be released in December 2000, but was not released due to a legal dispute between the producer and the distributor.

In the spring of 2001 Trpkovski took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen with the song One for All . He reached sixth place out of 12 participants and was whistled by the audience, whereupon he walked off the stage with the words “Thank you very much, you cunt heads!”. This appearance, which was followed by ten million television viewers, marked the end of his strong media presence.

After Trpkovski lived in Wesseling near Cologne for some time , he was back in his Swabian homeland until 2007 and worked in his old profession as a car mechanic. According to an interview, he is also no longer in contact with his former friend and Big Brother roommate Milski. In the Big Brother live show on SIXX on October 6, 2015, Milski answered the presenter Jochen Bendel that he had not had any contact with Trpkovski for 14 years.

After 19 years, Trpkovski returned to Big Brother and was a contestant for Season 7 of Celebrity Big Brother in August 2019 . After eight days, he was nominated by his roommates and voted out by the viewers on August 17, 2019 in the live show.

"Shakesbier"

After Trpkovski had declared in the Big Brother container that he did not know the English poet William Shakespeare , his management had the Iserlohn GmbH brewery brew a beer called "Shakesbier". It was withdrawn from the market after six months due to low sales.
