history

Local history

Nattheim was a settlement site of the Celts, on the eastern edge of the village there is a Viereckschanze , whose walls have been preserved. Nattheim was first mentioned in 1050 in a document from Emperor Heinrich III. mentioned. At that time the place was in the Duchy of Swabia . Since the late Middle Ages, Nattheim was under the rule of Heidenheim , which belonged to Bavaria-Landshut from 1450 to 1503 . In 1504 Nattheim fell back to the Duchy of Württemberg . When the new administrative structure was implemented in the Kingdom of Württemberg , which was founded in 1806, Nattheim's centuries-old membership of the Heidenheim district authority remained unaffected. During the administrative reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg in 1938, the Oberamt became the district of Heidenheim . In 1945 the place became part of the American zone of occupation and thus belonged to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden , which was incorporated into the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.

On February 1, 1972, the previously independent communities of Auernheim and Fleinheim were incorporated.
