Ludwig Anton Friedrich Fischer von Weikersthal (born February 26, 1843 in Nattheim , † December 4, 1912 ) was a Württemberg officer , most recently major general and commander of the Landjäger Corps .

Life

Fischer von Weikersthal was the son of a district forester . He attended high school in Ellwangen and the upper secondary school in Esslingen am Neckar and graduated from the Ludwigsburg military school on April 25, 1859 . On April 27, 1863 Fischer von Weikersthal was employed as a porter cadet in the 6th Infantry Regiment of the Württemberg Army . On May 14, 1864 , he was promoted to lieutenant with a patent from May 3, 1863 . From April 30, 1868 to July 27, 1870 he was assigned to the military school as an inspection officer. In the meantime promoted to first lieutenant , he came to the headquarters company and shortly thereafter, on December 8, 1870, was assigned to the 7th Infantry Regiment . With this regiment, Fischer von Weikersthal took part in the enclosure and siege of Paris during the Franco-German War . For his achievements he received the Knight's Cross First Class of the Frederick Order .

After Fischer von Weikersthal was transferred to 7th Infantry Regiment No. 125 on December 18, 1871, he served from January 15, 1872 to April 6, 1873 as an adjutant of the 53rd Infantry Brigade and then in the same position at the General Command of the XIII. (Royal Württemberg) Army Corps . Promoted to captain on August 1, 1873 , he was appointed company commander in 4th Infantry Regiment No. 122 two months later . As a major , Fischer von Weikersthal was battalion commander in the infantry regiment "Kaiser Wilhelm, König von Preußen" (2nd Württembergisches) No. 120 for three years from May 21, 1884 and then joined the infantry regiment "Alt-Württemberg" (3rd . Fischer von Weikersthal was then initially employed as a staff officer and district commander in the Landjägerkorps . On April 23, 1894 he was appointed commander of the Landjägerkorps and in this position he received the character of major general on April 25, 1896 . At his request, Fischer von Weikersthal was relieved of his position on May 27, 1903, with the award of the Commander of the Order of the Württemberg Crown . He was also the holder of the Commander II class of the Frederick Order, the Red Eagle Order IV class, the Crown Order II class and the Commander II class of the Albrecht Order and the Order of Saint Anna III. On the occasion of the centenary of the Landjäger Corps, King Wilhelm II awarded him the patent for his rank as major general on November 30, 1907.
