Klaus Maier (born March 16, 1956 in Nattheim ) is a German SPD politician and former member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament .

education and profession

Klaus Maier attended elementary school in Nattheim from 1963 to 1966 and the secondary school in Heidenheim from 1966 to 1972 . After graduating from secondary school in 1972, from 1972 to 1975 he trained as a senior administrative service at the mayor's office in Nattheim and at the district office in Heidenheim. From 1975 to 1977 he studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Stuttgart with a degree in administrative management (FH). From 1977 to 1983 he worked for the city administration of Aalen . Afterwards he was city treasurer of the city of Oberkochen from 1983 to 1986 .

politics

Klaus Maier joined the SPD in 1976. In 1986 he was elected mayor in Heubach . Since then he has also been chairman of the Rosenstein administrative community. He resigned both offices in 2011 after his election to the state parliament. He was a member of the district council of the Ostalbkreis from 2004 to 2011, temporarily as chairman of his parliamentary group.

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2011 , he won a second mandate in the Schwäbisch Gmünd state electoral district ; In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 , however, he was unable to defend his second mandate and was no longer represented in the next state parliament.

In March 2018, Klaus Maier was elected President of the Württemberg Cycling Association. He is a passionate cyclist in a club and, as Mayor of Heubach , initiated the mountain bike event “Bike the Rock”.

Family and private

Klaus Maier is Protestant. He is married to Karin Seiz-Maier and has two daughters.
