The University of Public Administration and Finance (HVF) is an internal university of the state of Baden-Württemberg . Its international name is University of Applied Sciences - Ludwigsburg . The university serves to train civil servants in the higher administrative service. In addition to the Ludwigsburg University, the Kehl University also fulfills this purpose. Both universities are universities of applied sciences .

history

In 1837 King Wilhelm I introduced the service examination for administrative offices in the Department of the Interior in Württemberg . At first it was up to them to decide where the test candidates acquired their knowledge. From 1887 state teaching courses were introduced in Stuttgart, which became compulsory from 1913. From 1933, the Higher Administrative School Stuttgart developed from this state course for administration candidates . After the Second World War, it was renamed the Stuttgart State Administration School in 1945 . In a transition phase between 1971 and 1973, it was renamed back to Höhere Verwaltungsschule Stuttgart . From 1971 Jägerstrasse 58 in Stuttgart became the headquarters. On April 1, 1973, the incorporation into the university sector became effective, whereupon the name was changed to the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration Stuttgart . From 1979 the graduates held the title of Diplom-Verwaltungswirt (FH) . In 1980, in addition to the previous civil servants in the internal administration, the students from the general financial administration were also integrated into teaching. In 1984 the university had to move to Ludwigsburg due to the lack of space for the steadily increasing number of students. This happened against the resistance of lecturers and students who wanted to keep the university in the state capital. The name was then the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration Stuttgart, based in Ludwigsburg . Since then it has shared a campus with the Ludwigsburg University of Education . In 1989 it was adapted to the circumstances and the addition with headquarters in Ludwigsburg disappeared from the name. In 1995 there was a further adaptation to the Ludwigsburg University of Applied Sciences - University of Public Administration . By merging the Universities of Public Administration (FHöV) and Finances (FHF) on September 1, 1999, the Ludwigsburg University of Public Administration and Finances was created .
