The University of Economics for Management (HdWM), based in Mannheim, is a private university with state recognition that started studying on April 4, 2011.

concept

Part of the concept of the university is the active involvement of companies in teaching and research as well as in the technical and financial support of the students. The university's own sales activities attract partner companies for which the university management is responsible and who are responsible for their content. Research projects and institutes deal with topics relevant to the labor market. The institutional accreditation by the Science Council took place on July 8, 2011.

The HdWM is located on the new education campus of the former Joseph Vögele AG site in Mannheim. On the premises it has lecture rooms, a library with a magazine and a cafeteria. In the new building of the Goethe Institute right next to the HdWM it has additional lecture rooms.

courses

The HdWM offers eight courses. Five courses lead to the BA / B.Sc. in business administration with a focus on consulting and sales management , management and corporate governance , management in international business , social work - integration management as well as psychology and management . The Management and Corporate Management course is also offered as an accompanying course that leads to a bachelor's degree and dual vocational training in three occupations in eight semesters. The MA Business Management can be acquired with the specializations International Sales Management, HR Management and IT Management. The Master in Business Management is offered in German and English. The HdWM also offers a master's degree in business psychology, the M.Sc. Business psychology with a focus on organizational psychology . All courses are accredited by FIBAA or AHPGS.

The course of the bachelor’s degree programs is divided into an introductory phase (semesters 1–3), in which the basics, deepening and implementation of the material are taught and learned, and a practical phase (semesters 4–6), which consists of the practical semester and the bachelor’s degree -Work exists. In the master’s degree, great importance is attached to the practical connection: internships, specializations or application subjects as well as a concentrated presence time of 2–2.5 days ensure a successful entry into professional life. The master’s courses have a standard period of 3–4 semesters. The university offers preliminary courses so that you can catch up on missing credits.

The HdWM also offers extra-occupational training courses in which you can acquire different forms of certificates. This ranges from the accredited certificate "Integration management in the work system", which was specially developed for job center employees, to the certificate "Leadership and management in municipal administration" created to qualify for advancement from the upper to the general higher service, and compact certificates for imparting knowledge in success-relevant areas Areas such as sales management and IT management through to in-house certificates that are tailored to the needs of companies and non-profit organizations.

research

The focus of research should be company and labor market-related topics, which are also oriented towards the requirements of the labor market in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. Almost all Bachelor's degree programs offer a special research module in the 3rd semester.

The research projects at the HdWM include the QUAPI project and the Institute for Social Sustainability (isfn), an in-institute of the university.

Sponsors and partners

The university is run by the Hochschule der Wirtschaft für Management gGmbH. 75 percent of the shares in the company are held by the International Federation (IB) , the independent body responsible for youth, social and educational work, based in Frankfurt am Main. The remaining company shares are divided between WBS Training AG, the Kiry Group and the German-Turkish Institute for Work and Education eV

The HdWM is currently supported by over 50 partner companies. There are cooperation agreements with the Goethe-Institut Mannheim-Heidelberg, the Université International de Tunis (UIT), the Yeditepe and the Okan University of Istanbul as well as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
