The Academy for Performing Arts Baden-Württemberg (also Theater Academy or ADK-BW for short ) was founded in 2007. It is located on the joint campus with the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg . It offers bachelor's and master's degrees in acting, directing and dramaturgy that closely link theater and film.

Elisabeth Schweeger has headed the Academy for Performing Arts Baden-Württemberg since September 2014. The course directors are currently Jens Groß for dramaturgy, Christiane Pohle and Benedikt Haubrich for acting and Ludger Engels for direction. In cooperation with the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, there is the stage and costume design course under the direction of Martin Zehetgruber and Bettina J. Walter.

history

In July 2007, the establishment of the theater academy was unanimously decided by all parliamentary groups and was officially founded on October 8, 2007. The academy is sponsored by the state of Baden-Württemberg , the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy , the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart and the city of Ludwigsburg . In 2008, studies began in the winter semester.

The new courses for theater directing, acting and dramaturgy were developed in cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . In addition, the city of Ludwigsburg built an experimental stage that will be left to the Academy for Performing Arts.

Education

The academy accepts around twenty students per academic year.

  • Dramaturgy, Master , 4 semesters
  • Stage / costume design, diploma, 5 years - in cooperation with the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart

In addition, the film acting workshop of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy takes place in cooperation with the Academy for Performing Arts. The course is aimed at young talents who want to expand their classically completed acting training to include film acting.
