The Kehl University of Applied Sciences is one of two universities for public administration in Baden-Württemberg. The study building is in Kehl in the Ortenau district , the second university is in Ludwigsburg . The university students are employed as civil servants ( government inspector candidates ) in the state of Baden-Württemberg and are trained for the career of the higher non-technical administrative service . The course ends with an academic graduation as a Bachelor. The university's master’s courses are divided into advanced and contact courses:

  • Master's degree in European Administrative Management , Master of Arts
  • Master's degree in Public Management , part-time, Master of Arts
  • Master's degree in Management of Clusters and Regional Networks , German-French, in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg , Master of Arts

Most of the lectures in the Bachelor's degree are held in groups of around 30 students. Mass events with several groups are the exception in the bachelor's degree and generally do not occur in the master's degree.

Objectives of the course

University of Kehl

Due to the theoretical-analytical skills, knowledge and action competencies imparted, and through practical work, the students should be able to work independently in various professional fields of the public service, systematically and with application-related scientific methodology. A necessary component of this is to achieve an understanding of the legal, political, economic and social relationships in the national, European and international area and of the problems of administrative organization. The aim is to train staff for state and local administrations who are suitable and versatile in terms of their individual personality as well as general and specialist knowledge and skills for the higher administrative service.

history

The university was founded in 1971 as the “State Higher Administrative School”; It did not receive the status of a university of applied sciences for public administration until April 1, 1973. In the 1980s there was a comprehensive structural expansion. Since 2008, the Kehl University of Applied Sciences has been called the Kehl University for Public Administration . Access was improved in November 2018: the Strasbourg – Kehl Rathaus tram stops here .

Information center

The information center of the Kehl University of Applied Sciences (IZ) is a publicly accessible central facility of the Kehl University of Applied Sciences in its library area, but the use of the services of the IZ data center is generally not possible for those outside the university. The Information Center (IZ) has existed in its current form since 2008, when the university library and the university computer center merged on the basis of Section 28 of the Baden-Württemberg State University Act. Since then, the library and computer center have been "competence centers" within the information center (IZ) .
