Gabriele Rolland (born December 6, 1963 in Kenzingen ) is a social democratic politician and elected member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . She was elected to the state parliament in Stuttgart in the constituency of Freiburg II .

Life

Gabi Rolland grew up in Emmendingen and has lived in Freiburg since 1989. After graduating from high school in 1983, she began preparing for higher service and studying at the Kehl University of Applied Sciences , which she graduated in 1987 with a degree in administrative management . Then she entered the service of the city of Emmendingen. From 1987 to 2001 she worked as a clerk in the Office for Environmental Protection of the District Office Emmendingen, District Emmendingen in the field of water, soil, pollution and nature conservation law. From 2001 to 2011 Gabi Rolland worked as a representative for cross-border cooperation and European affairs at the Emmendingen district office.

Rolland has been a member of the SPD since 1984 and has held various party offices at local and district level. From 1997 to 2011 she had a seat on the municipal council of Freiburg im Breisgau . In 2011 she was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Wuerttemberg with a second mandate in the Freiburg II state electoral district. There she is u. a. active in the Environment, Science and Petitions Committee. In the legislative period 2011–2016, she was a member of the Environment, Science and Petitions Committee and the Committee for Rural Areas.

In the state elections on March 13, 2016, Gabi Rolland won a second mandate with 13.8% of the votes in the Freiburg II constituency. In the current term of office, she is chair of the committee for the environment, climate and energy and a member of the committee for science, research and the arts. She acts as the spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group for environmental and nature conservation policy, university policy and student affairs.

At the SPD state party conference on October 22, 2016 in Heilbronn, Rolland was elected as deputy state chairman.

She is a member of the Upper Rhine Council, the German-French-Swiss assembly of the politically elected in this region, and the advisory board of the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation. She is also the chair of the Freiburg branch of NaturFreunde e. V. and chairwoman of the DLRG district association Breisgau e. V.
