The Freie Hochschule Stuttgart Seminar for Waldorf Education is a private university with courses for the training of teachers at Waldorf schools . It was officially recognized as a scientific university in 1999 .

history

In 1928 the Free University of Stuttgart began training Waldorf teachers in seminars. The first Waldorf school began its activity under the direction of Rudolf Steiner in September 1919 on the Uhlandshöhe in Stuttgart . For Waldorf education , which was spreading rapidly , experienced Waldorf teachers began to offer courses in line with the educational approach of Waldorf schools. After the forced closure by the National Socialists in 1938, further training courses were resumed in 1945. Until the 1970s, the Free University was the only such training center for Waldorf education in Germany. In addition to the postgraduate training, an undergraduate course for class teachers at Waldorf schools was set up in 1973. In 1983 the offer was expanded to include training courses for secondary school teachers. The eurythmy teacher training grew out of the long-term cooperation with the Eurythmeum Stuttgart .

recognition

Since 1999, the basic training as a class teacher at Waldorf schools as well as the advanced and supplementary courses have been officially recognized by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science for an unlimited period. The seminar for Waldorf education is a higher technical school for the seminar-like training courses.

As part of the Bologna Process of the European Union , the Freie Hochschule Stuttgart converted its previous diploma courses into modularized Bachelor and Master courses and had them accredited between 2009 and 2011 .
